At 22:16 on January 13, 2026, the Long March 6A Carrier Rocket successfully sent the Yaogan-50 01 remote sensing satellite into the preset orbit at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, marking the full success of the launch mission. The satellite is mainly used in fields including national land census, crop yield estimation, and disaster prevention and mitigation. Both the satellite and the rocket were developed under the lead of SAST.

The Long March 6A carrier rocket, developed under the lead of SAST, is a new-generation medium-lift launch vehicle with solid-fuel and liquid propellant. With a payload capacity of no less than 6.5 tons for deploying satellites into a 500-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit, the carrier rocket covers diverse and intensive launch needs such as single satellite, multiple satellites in parallel or tandem, wall-mounted and piggyback launches.

This mission marks the first launch of the Long March 6A carrier rocket in 2026. The launch took place in the depths of winter, with the minimum temperature at the launch site dropping below -25℃. Braving the severe cold, the test team members formulated and implemented various thermal insulation measures, based on the successful experience of previous winter launches, to ensure the precise compliance of the technical conditions for the launch. The test team performed a comprehensive identification of potential risks, along with overall and professional technical reviews. They also maintained in-depth communication and close coordination with the launch site, and implemented targeted control measures for all risk points to fully guarantee the success of the launch mission.
Faced with challenges including the pressing test cycle at the launch site, the test team fully identified risks, pre-arranged the work plans and resource requirements for the next day at the daily coordination meetings, aiming to achieve efficient overall planning of core resources in multiple systems including power supply and distribution, measurement and control, and propulsion. Besides, the consistency of the test data was guaranteed by making thorough comparisons and reviews of the test data from the launch site against those in the AIT. During the launch site phase, the test team took the following measures to ensure the reliability of the satellite from the very beginning: The requirements of higher authorities were fully implemented; contingency plans were formulated to ensure quick response to emergencies; quality issues were avoided based on the experiences and lessons drawn from the previous launches and by conducting special reviews.
This marks the 20th launch of the Long March 6A Carrier Rocket, the 257th of the Long March series carrier rockets under the lead of SAST, and the 624th of the Long March series carrier rockets.
