At 7:00 AM on December 12, 2025, the Long March 12 launch vehicle lifted off from Hainan Commercial Space Launch Site, successfully deploying SatNet LEO Group 16 satellites into the destination orbit, signaling a complete success of the launch mission.
The Long March 12 launch vehicle is a new-generation launch vehicle with cryogenic liquid propellant developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, as well as China’s first 4-meter class single-core launch vehicle. It has a payload capacity of no less than 12 tons for deploying satellites into a low Earth orbit and a payload capacity of no less than 6 tons for deploying satellites into a 700-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit. It can be fitted with fairings of either 4.2 meters or 5.2 meters in diameter depending on the mission, making it suitable to launch both single and multiple satellites into various orbits.

With just 32 days between this launch and the previous mission, it presents a crucial challenge for the recovery of ground equipment, the rocket’s quick testing and launch preparedness, and the test team’s capacity for sustained operations. Under the leadership of the chief designer and chief commander of the model team, the test team members consistently demonstrated strong enthusiasm and a rigorous attitude, and meticulously and efficiently completed every task at the launch site, ensuring both top-notch quality and greater operational efficiency. To ensure the mission progresses smoothly, the test team, through scientific coordination and meticulous planning, optimized and improved the launch site workflow, effectively shortened the time spent at the launch site and increased the testing and launch efficiency, ultimately ensuring the successful completion of the mission.
This launch mission is the 4th launch of Long March 12 launch vehicle, the 253rd flight test of the Long March series of launch vehicles developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, and the 616th launch of China’s Long March series of launch vehicles.
