[Abstract]:

At 7:45 a.m. on April 21, 2024, Long March 2D Y1O3 launch vehicle was successfully launched with Yaogan-42 02 satellite at Xichang Satellite Launch Center, signaling a complete success of the launch mission! Both the satellite and the launch vehicle are developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology subordinated to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. 

Long March 2D launch vehicle is a level 2 carrier rocket with liquid propellant of normal temperature. It has a takeoff thrust of about 300 tons, and a payload capacity of 1.3 tons for deploying satellites into a 700-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit, as well as the single-satellite and multiple-satellite launching capabilities meeting the requirements of different orbits at Jiuquan, Taiyuan, and Xichang satellite launch centers.

The technological configuration for this mission is the same as that for the previous Y102 mission. The team of this model made overall planning and meticulously arranged personnel and launch procedures, and increased the reliability of mission success by minimizing personnel turnover and maintaining the consistency of work procedures and rhythms at the launch site. To mitigate the risk of complacency among team members due to the similarity of tasks, the team strengthened quality management, organized pre-event envisioning and post-event reflection sessions, and held work briefing meetings, at which personnel were arranged to adequately plan subsequent tasks, thus ensuring that the work content is clear, the personnel have a high risk awareness, and the work plan is feasible

This launch mission is the 89th launch of Long March 2D launch vehicle, the 208th launch of the Long March series of launch vehicles developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology subordinated to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, and the 517th launch of Long March series of launch vehicles. 

To further improve the efficiency, the test team of Yaogan-42 02 satellite made advanced planning and meticulous deployment, and connected seamlessly various tests for two satellites by taking measures such as simultaneous arrival of two satellites and synchronous initiation of launch site procedures, which significantly improved the work efficiency at the launch site. At the launch site, the experienced team always kept an empty cup mentality, and addressed each challenge with the highest standard. During the testing work at the launch site, the test team meticulously carried out their work in strict accordance with requirements, ensured no details were overlooked, and completed risk analysis and quality reviews with high quality.

While ensuring the successful completion of the launch mission, the team of the model continued to explore the way for transformation of scientific research and production modes. In launch site operations, they achieved coordination in general assembly and overall collaboration, and assisted each other effectively while controlling the number of test team members, which greatly improved the work efficiency of personnel at the launch site. During the development process, they continuously optimized and solidified testing items, becoming the first team within SAST to comprehensively achieve specialized testing in the satellite field, which provided invaluable experience for them to win missions and carry out scientific development in this field.
