At 7:46 on July 2, 2026, the Long March 4B launch vehicle was successfully launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, accurately placing the Haiyang-2E satellite into its designation orbit. The launch mission was a complete success.

The Long March 4B launch vehicle that carried out this mission is a three-stage liquid-fueled carrier rocket powered by room temperature propellants developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology. It features excellent performance and broad applications. The launch vehicle can be flexibly configured to deploy different satellites to different orbits. It supports both single-satellite launches and multi-satellite rideshare missions, with a payload capacity of no less than 2.5 tons for deploying satellites into a 700-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit.

The mission took place during the peak of summer, with hot, dry weather accompanied by strong winds and sandstorms, posing multiple challenges to the launch vehicle in terms of thermal insulation, sand and dust protection, electrostatic prevention, and wind-load resistance. Drawing on proven experience from previous launches in summer, the model team refined their prevention and control measures and flexibly adjusted the transportation procedures to ensure product safety and reliability and the smooth progression of the mission. For the first time in this mission, a parallel propellant loading mode was adopted under high-temperature conditions. The test team worked closely with the launch site systems and conducted multiple rounds of simulations and tests to verify and ensure the rocket’s launch capability under high-temperature operating conditions.
This launch mission is the 118th launch of Long March 4 launch vehicle series, the 270th flight of the Long March series of launch vehicles developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, and the 654th launch of China’s Long March fleet.
