The manned Space Program
SAST has been in charge of the development of the manned spacecraft, cargo spacecraft, space laboratory, and space station core module, experimental module I, and experimental module II, optical module in the China’s Manned Space Program. SAST plays a supportive role in this program in developing several subsystems, such as propelling/resource modules, power, docking mechanism, digital transmission and communication subsystem. Meanwhile, SAST is a major force for the overall design of the space station experimental module II.
So far, SAST has made a significant contribution to the program. Missions accomplished include the launching of spacecrafts from SZ-1 to SZ-11, target aircraft TG-1 and space station TG-2, spacewalk and docking and supplementation propellant for the cargo spacecraft (TZ-1).
The Moon Exploration Project
In the second stage of the Moon Exploration Program, SAST is in charge of designing and manufacturing several key subsystems of moon probe CE-3 and CE-4, such as power subsystem, lunar-rover structure and mechanism subsystem, rover-orbiter displacement subsystem, rover-orbiter digital transmission and communication subsystem.
In the third stage of the Moon Exploration Program,, SAST assumes the leading role in the R&D of the lunar orbiter CE-5 and CE-6, meanwhile, SAST has been in charge of several development tasks, including earth-moon transportation, docking in the lunar orbit, and automatic sample transmission.
