At 6:51 AM on April 19, 2025, the Long March 6A launch vehicle was successfully launched at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, accurately deploying the Shiyan-27 Satellite into its destination orbit, signaling a complete success of the launch mission. The Long March 6A launch vehicle for this launch mission is a new generation of medium-lift launch vehicle with solid-fuel and liquid propellant developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology.
To meet the rapidly growing demands of launch missions, the model team optimized the testing procedures and shortened the launch cycle for this launch, and will further improve the launch efficiency in future missions.
This mission marked the first time the Long March 6A employed a multi-satellite side-mounted configuration. The central loaded cylinder was constructed using composite materials. Due to the narrow spacing between satellites, the satellite-rocket docking process was especially challenging. Drawing on experience from other models, the model team ensured a safe and efficient docking process through digital model validation, satellite-rocket docking test, and other measures.
In addition, the recovery workshop for the core stage and boosters used in this mission also differed from those in previous launches, posing new challenges for the rocket’s adaptability. After extensive analysis, coordination, and verification, it was confirmed that the Long March 6A could fully adapt to the unloading and recovery operations at the new locations. This flexibility allows for the selection of workshops based on specific needs in future missions.
This launch mission is the 11th launch of Long March 6A launch vehicle, the 233rd flight test of the Long March series of launch vehicles developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, and the 570th launch of China’s Long March series of launch vehicles.
