At 10:12 AM on April 3, 2025, the Long March 6 launch vehicle lifted off from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, successfully sending the Tianping-3A 02 satellite into its destination orbit, signaling a complete success of the launch mission. The Long March 6 launch vehicle for this launch mission is a three-stage cryogenic liquid-fueled launch vehicle developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology.
The Long March 6 launch vehicle adopts the “three-horizontal” testing and launch model featuring “horizontal assembly, horizontal testing, and horizontal transport” and a simplified launch setup without a fixed gantry. The launch vehicle needs to withstand temperatures below minus ten degrees Celsius without the protection of a gantry. To address this challenge, the model team drew on the past successful experience in the launch mission in winter, and organized all personnel concerned to conduct a specialized review of the winter launch mission to ensure personnel safety, product safety, and operational safety.
To ensure the success of the mission, the model team maintained a cautious attitude throughout the entire mission process. With a focus on key operations, they conducted a thorough reassessment and reanalysis of all procedures and steps at the launch site including operational guidelines, criticality analysis, and control measures, established a full-process management & control system covering every link “from stand-alone units to the whole system, from design to implementation, and from planning to closed-loop management”, and reinforced quality assurance via the pre- and post-event review mechanism.
This launch mission is the 14th launch of the Long March 6 launch vehicle, the 232nd launch of the Long March series of launch vehicles developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, and the 568th launch of Long March series of launch vehicles in China.
