At 12:41 on December 5, 2024, the Long March 6A Yaogan-22 launch vehicle was launched from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, successfully deploying the Qianfan Jigui-03 group of satellites into their destination orbits, signaling a complete success of the launch mission.
The Long March 6A launch vehicle, which carried out this launch mission, is a new generation medium-lift launch vehicle with solid-fuel and liquid propellant developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), with a payload capacity of no less than 4.5 tons for deploying satellites into a 700-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit. With a modular, combined, and series development approach, the launch vehicle can be developed with various configurations through booster adjustments in the future, meeting the growing demand for the diverse and intensive launch requirements of satellites.
As a new-generation main medium-lift launch vehicle in China, Long March 6A launch vehicle has now reached a stage of intensive launches. The model team continually optimized the staffing, recovery of ground equipment, and testing processes at the launch site to further shorten the time between launches and meet the demand for more intensive launches in the future. Considering that the launch mission is carried out in winter, the test team organized all systems to conduct comprehensive low-temperature adaptability reviews of onboard components and ground equipment to ensure they meet the requirements for cold-weather launches.
In this mission, the specialized testing and launch team from SAST took full charge of the testing and launch work of Long March 6A launch vehicle at the site. They refined job roles, detailed operating procedures, and worked closely with designers according to the unique characteristics of each system and specialty, and completed the testing and launch tasks with exceptional quality, stringent standards, and high efficiency.
This launch mission is the 9th launch of Long March 6A launch vehicle, the 225th flight test of the Long March series of launch vehicles developed by SAST, and the 550th launch of China’s Long March series of launch vehicles.
