At 4:53 a.m. on February 2, Beijing time, the lander-ascender combination of Chang'e 5 has finished samples drilling and packaging. After successfully landing on the lunar surface at about 23:00 on February 1, the solar wing unfolding and mechanism unlocking were carried out. At present, the lander-ascender combination is gathering subsurface samples as planned. The automatic sampling task of chang'e-5 is planned to be conducted both on the lunar surface and in the ground at multi points, and two “digging” modes using a drill for obtaining underground rocks beneath the surface and a mechanical arm for gathering surface dirt respectively are designed.
